About GEM ...

Graffham Empire Movies was set up in 2006 with the joint aims of showing films in Graffham and raising funds for the Empire Hall.

We normally show eight or nine films a year on Saturday evenings from September to April or May. We also aim to show one children's film during the year. Since setup we have shown a total of 25 films, our most popular being The Queen and, more recently, Mamma Mia.

Our film showings provide an opportunity for our community to get together, have a chat, and enjoy a convivial evening together as well as watching the movie. There is always an interval in the film with a bar and refreshments. Our chocolate brownies are legendary!

GEM shows films in conjunction with "Movies on the Move", a rural touring cinema initiative for West Sussex bringing film to small communities using DVD technology. MOTM was initially subsidized by a grant from WSCC, however GEM is now financed through ticket sales, advertising from local businesses and a grassroots grant from the Sussex Community Foundation.

GEM is run by a Committee. Our ordinary meetings are open to anyone who would like to help or contribute to the discussion. Our next AGM is on Monday 22nd February at 8.00 pm in the Empire Hall. All residents of Graffham and Selham are welcome.
